About efg

efg is a project by the people behind Cur8 Capital. But this is not a Cur8 Capital project. There is nothing to buy here. Nothing to sign up for beyond the newsletter. No product pitch hiding behind the content.

We built efg because we kept having the same conversationwith friends, family, and basically anyone who asked what we do for a living. People would find out we work in finance and immediately want to know: where does my money actually go? Is my pension doing harm? What can I actually do about it?

The answers are out there, but they are scattered across jargon-heavy reports, buried in footnotes, or dressed up as marketing for some fund manager's latest product. Nobody was just talking about it without an agenda.

What this is

efg is a space to talk about the financial system. What is broken, what is possible, and what ordinary people can do with the money they already have.

We write about where your pension money goes. About the gap between ESG labels and actual impact. About what it means to invest with intention rather than on autopilot. About the future world and how we can actually change it strategically. And we try to do it in a way that respects your intelligence without assuming you have a finance degree.

The aim is to open up a space for genuine discussion and new ideas. The financial system affects all of us, but the conversation about it has been gate-kept for too long by the people who profit from it staying exactly the way it is.

This is our community project — our way of trying to effect change by educating ordinary folks, because this is what we do for a living so we get it. Plus, we are also quite sad and geeky and genuinely enjoy writing about this stuff.

Why bother

Because the financial system will not explain itself to you. It has no incentive to. The less you understand, the less you question. The less you question, the more your money flows into the same places it always has regardless of whether those places align with anything you care about.

We think that should change. Not through regulation alone, and not through guilt. Through conversation and people understanding enough to make different choices with their own capital.

That is what efg is for.

If you want to understand the deeper reason this project exists, why it takes people inside the system to challenge it — read why efg exists.

We are not perfect

We are trying to do this for the right reasons and hopefully that comes across. That said, we are humans and therefore not perfect. But, like good humans, we want to improve. So if you do spot anything or have some feedback, ideas or you just want to get involved, please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you.

If you want to be part of the conversation, join the community. If you have questions, thoughts, or want to tell us we have got something wrong — get in touch.
